A Walk [Kensei]

Rain drops fell lightly from the sky onto the damp ground as Byakuya walked around the Soul Society. Normally he wouldn't be out in weather like this since he hated getting wet and dirty, but he had finished his paperwork for the day and had nothing else to do.

Kensei was sitting on a wall. He loved the rain, dispite his abilities and personality, he loved the water. He smiled a bit when he saw byakuya pass by. He jumped down next to him, not making a splash. "hey Byakky" He chuckled

Byakuya frowned slightly as Kensei jumped down next to him and stopped away. Remembering his manners, he bowed, and decided not to say anything about what Kensei had called him. "Hello, Captain Commander."

"oh losen up byakky, you know I hate being called that, makes me feel old like old man Yamamoto" He chuckled. Byakuya was definitely too polite sometimes. He hated titles and surnames.

Byakuya looked at him silently for a moment, then nodded. "As you wish," he replied hesitantly. He had always been taught to call his superiors by their proper titles. "It's... a beautiful day," Byakuya said, looking up at the sky. The sun was just peeking out from behind the clouds.

"indeed it is.... sun's just right.... let me ask you something byakuya.... why did you become so strict, and formal? you used to be such a wild child" Kensei chuckled. He much prefered a childish byakuya than a formal, cold and calm byakuya.

Byakuya frowned at Kensei's question. He certainly wasn't used to being talked to this way. Normally he would have ignored this question, but this was the captain commander he was talking to. "I grew up," he said simply.

Kensei sighed "byakuya... you should losen up... she'd want it for you, you know?" Kensei knew he was stepping on thin ice, but he needed to get this through to Byakuya, if he didnt, then no one would.

Byakuya stared at Kensei for a minute before simple turning and continuing to walk.

Kensei walked right beside him, letting Byakuya think about what he had said, hoping Byakuya would speak up first.

Byakuya was silent for a long time. He glanced up at the sun, wich had gone behind the couds. Now the sky was dark, and the roads were quiet. He wondered where everyone was. Usually there were people all over the place. Maybe it was the rain. "I... I'll try," he finally said, not looking at Kensei.

Kensei smiled and put his hand on his shoulder. "thats all I'm asking" He smiled and closed his eyes. "the clouds that hide the sun have past, and the warmth is now shone." He said

"Hopefully the weather will clear up soon," Byakuya said. It had become to rain harder, though the sun was showing. "Probably just a sun shower, but still."

"yeah, it should.... heh... I wonder if Yoruichi is scared of lightning?" He joked. He always HAD wondered just how much like a cat she really was. He stared at the sun for a moment for closing his eyes and chuckling.

Byakuya smiled briefly, then returned to his normal, calm expresion. "It would be a good thing to know," he said thoughtfully. He was thinking of all those times she had tricked him, and wondering if he could get back at her somehow.

"heh... yeah... Imagine Urahara when its stormy, gotta feel sorry for the poor guy" He chuckled, remembering his old friend. He knew the guy couldnt handle Yoruichi when angry, or in any way overly emotional.

Byakuya nodded absentmindedly. They were nearing one of the Soul Society's lakes. He stopped at the edge and looked into the crystal waters.

Kensei smiled and walked towards the lake. As stated earlier he loved water. He took a step on the water. He continued to walk on the water till he got a few yards out. "you coming byakuya?"

Byakuya stayed where he was for a couple more seconds. The pond reminded him of the one back at the manor, although there were no fish here. "Yes," he replied finally, and stepped away, continuing to walk.

"heh, you've always liked fish havent you?" Kensei smirked, the water beneath his feet was heating up slightly, and would soon draw fish towards it. The fish in this lake should be bigger than normal.

"Yes," Byakuya answered softly. "Fish are beautiful. And they're all so different...." Byakuya felt the water heat up.

Kensei smiled as a few small fish swam under his feet. He loved any animals, he even said they were superior to humans a few times.

Byakuya watched the fish and smiled ever so slightly.

"I wish we could feel what they feel for one day..." Kensei sighed. He almost envied animals, for not having the level of thought humans had.

Byakuya sighed slightly. The animal world was so complicated, so different from the human world. "Maybe someday we will," he said quietly, watching the fish intently. "Maybe someday there will be a new race...." he trailed off and turned away from the fish, starting to walk back the other way.
